How can one visit Italy without visiting its very own Capital. Such a cosmopolitan city with over 3000 years of influential art and architecture. Strange enough that after reading several Dan Brown novels, walking the streets of Rome takes another meaning.
From the port we take a long bus ride to the city center. The ride itself was a little challenging since the bus had some early air conditioning issues which made the ride uncomfortable. 20 minutes into the ride, Hallelujah, A/C started working.
Our hop-on, hop-off bus starts at Via Marsala. The traditional tourists spots are visited such as Santa Maria Maggiore, Colosseo, Circo Massimo, Piazza Venezia and the Vatican. The usual pictures with the Trevi fountain and Spanish steps were taken, but unfortunately the Spanish steps were cordoned off.

This trip was one of a kind since we were able to take a picture with Pope Francis…OK..mind you it was only a cardboard picture of the Pope but nevertheless was still memorable.

Rome continues to thrive and is exciting to visit every time.
