Bermuda; 1 year Wedding Anniversary

Aug-1992

August of 1992, one year after our wedding, I decided to keep our excitement alive by surprising her with a trip to Bermuda.  Some planning was definitely needed and as she was at work, I set the stage up for a memorable event.

I had filled our bedroom with white balloons, bed top with some champagne and at bed center, two tickets to Bermuda.  Her smile from ear to ear, upon her entering the room, clearly showed that she was ready to pack and enjoy a weekend adventure.

I noticed very early in my Delta career that in late 80’s and early 90’s only the affluent  would travel often and for sporadic weekend get-away ……totally unheard of.  Delta has given me the opportunity in sparking my life with travels I would have never imagined.

We get spoiled by traveling first class and the trip down was constant chirping of how the room was filled with balloons.  To top it off, all were blown manually!  Talk about feeling light headed.

In the early days at Delta, it was mandatory to travel with formal attire as we would be representing the company professionally.  It did change after many years but rules and structure were in place to be followed.

We met up with a great friend of mine Robert and his girlfriend Camille and stayed in a two bedroom apartment called the Sandpiper quest house.  Location served perfectly as a home base while we ventured to Horseshoe Bay and Jobson’s cove with our rented scooters.

Weaving carefully in and out of traffic while stopping at every cliff to admire the pink sands, made it feel like we were on a magic carpet ride.  The times we stopped to swim and walk the beaches, rock formations in every direction painted beautiful pictures.

Majestic rocks, blue ocean and pink sand….what a recipe for a soothing and calm weekend.

Early in our marriage, it was clear that with the added benefits of my work, we were going to be on an adventure for life and only God can bless us with health to venture all corners of the world.
