New York; the start of travel companions

Mar-1992

Prior to working for Delta, the thought of visiting New York for the day would mean driving for 6 hours.  I never thought I would be able to simply wake up one morning, head to the airport with coworkers and enjoy a day abroad…..later the evening, catch the last flight back home.

We did just that in March of 1992.  Spiro, Karl, Anna, Marina, Mer, myself and my wife visited New York City for the day.  The traditional sites were visited from a leisure skate at Rockefeller Center to the United Nations, from Central Park to the Russian Tea Room, we felt like we owned the world.  Free, enjoying the sites and great company.

This time around we decided to visit the Empire State Building and take the breath of fresh air from the very top.

As quickly we arrive, we find ourselves in a taxi headed back to the airport for our return flight.  Many of the friendships created in the early ’90’s at Delta are still alive with occasional dinner dates.  While many have moved on and several retired, the core has been in contact for over 30 years.
