Before visiting St.Lucia with my family in July of 2006, I’ve done a recognizance trip with my work colleagues 4 months prior. With the traveling benefits, it was a great routine in traveling to locations with friends first to get a feel and vibe of the location. Later, the local contacts that I’ve made along with the knowledge of the area, makes the family trip all that much easier.
Angelo and Paul, colleagues that I’ve ventured the Delta route map with, made my days at Delta the most memorable of all. Their similar interests from great work ethics to quick getaways, kept us together for years. Endless trips resulted in endless friendship. At least with Angelo!

We arrive at the Coconut Bay Resort & Spa, conveniently located just minutes from the airport, and start the venture. Whenever you fly with Paul, our roaming reporter, the laughs and stories never end.
The resort was a very nice large complex and upon completing our check in, we stroll to the pool area which reveals a background of serenity and nature at its best. This was surely going to be a relaxing weekend.

Without any hesitation, Paul becomes friendly with local chefs to ensure he’s well served. Angelo on the other hand, plays his famous “twinkle twinkle little star” rendition in the resort lobby.
The following morning we book John’s taxi to take us around the area. We stop at Anse Chastenet Resort and snorkel one of the nicest reefs I’ve ever seen. From turtles to parrot fish, the reef was completely alive. As the reef also had many sea urchins lodged in many crevasses, Andy, a friend of Paul, stepped on a sea urchin that certainly pricked his foot. The resort itself had gorgeous huts spread around the mountain top.
We continue our tour and visit the Soufriere quarters. We come across a nice village and see many exiting a church. Mass must have ended and locals going about their Sunday rituals. Majestically positioned in the distance we see the infamous Pitons. We can’t end the tour without visiting the sulfur springs. The world’s only “drive in volcano”.

The resort also had a lazy river circling the perimeter and a great water slide. The only draw back was the beach area was filled with seaweed and the sand area was minimal. Walking the shoreline 10 minutes away, we then noticed a much better beach area that lived up to the St.Lucian expectation. Gorgeous!

As quickly we arrived and settled in, we were packed and boarding for our way back home. The quick weekend get away gives us the adrenaline to discover new places, the chance of breaking the routine and ,more importantly, the stories that last a life time.
