Aug-2016
Seeing 2016 marked our 25th wedding anniversary and being in Arizona just a few months prior, I decided to take my wife to Phoenix in August 2016. Our children all have part-time work so they weren’t able in taking some time off. That left a nice romantic weekend for Anna and myself.
I couldn’t take to many days off work so we left one night after work, overnight in Atlanta to catch the first flight out the following day. This way, we get the most of the day once we arrived. This time around, we didn’t stay at my cousin’s, but instead booked a nice hotel not too far from the city center, but yet still up on a mountain with resort style pool area.
Upon checking in, we were brought to our room with a golf cart, room was nice but slightly dated. Weather was great with mist hoses all over the area to cool us down. Spent the day by the pool and walked around the hotel grounds. The scenery was gorgeous with rock formations all around. Waterfalls directly from the existing mountain sides and plant formation that I’ve never seen before.

The next day, we had my cousin and his family join us at the hotel and their children played along the resort pool. It was great spending a day with them. We went for supper at the Depot Cantina that evening and happened to be seated next to a party group celebrating a Quinceanera. It was great atmosphere and seeing there was a football game for the Arizona State University, many were dressed in their team colour. To end the evening we drove around Tempe and the city streets were alive.

Next morning, head back to the airport………Destination Home! Ready for the next adventure.
